I'm trying to illustrate the Princess and the Pea, just for fun. But I've gotten a little bogged down. Here's the prince near the beginning with one of the 'not real' princesses. It's pen and ink and watercolor. Any advice or anything would be great.

Very lovely! You have major talent!

The sidewalk looks a bit like a sword bisecting your image. It's obviously a formal garden. It's so bare and white. You might want to try some lines thru them but better yet draw stepping stones, or have some of the flora round off a little over the edge of the sidewalk. Somehow tone down that large white space and soften it more like the rest of the picture.

Everything else looks perfect to me.
