So I finished this in February and already gave it to my friend, but y'all know how it goes with remembering to post things.  Smiley This is a bed size quilt, I think about 90x105 inches. This was my first attempt at a real quilt, so in spite of the (many) little mistakes, I'm pretty happy with it! The recipient is my best friend, who is getting married this September; I'm her maid of honor but won't be at the wedding because I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer in Eastern Europe, so I wanted to give her a special gift.

The photos don't show the true colors. They're more balanced in real life, and nice and warm and, of course, purple.

Here it is spread out on my living room floor while I was trying to figure out where to put the squares. Sorry for the mess: I had to sell/give away everything I owned before coming to Eastern Europe!

And my husband helping!

The backing. This is where all the mistakes are visible. My mom said that mistakes just prove that more love than skill went into making it. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing!

And, finally, my beautiful friend when I gave it to her.

I love it, what a great friend you are to do this. It will mean so much more than another knife set! Great work!

Beautiful, I am sure she appreciated all the love that went into making this.  Mistakes, who cares, adds character!

Wow, it's gorgeous. I've always wanted to make a queen sized one for myself, since I'm so specific with the colors I like, but I doubt I'd have the patience!Something in your photo is grabbing my attention though...is that a giant penis sculpture?!?!

Thanks, everyone!

And yes, that is a paper mache penis pinata. It was for my friend's bachelorette party, which was when I gave her the quilt. I did not realize it was in that picture...ooops... Embarrassed

hahahaha! i'm glad it was supposed to look like a penis. it could have been a cats scratching post gone way way wayyy wrong. still diggin' on the quilt. i hope to someday be on both the giving and receiving ends of a wedding quilt.
