I loved Rainbow Brite when I was little, and I was in the supermarket the other day and I came across the whole series on DVD, so I've been watching it loads and have rediscovered my love for it all over again, even though I'm 23 now! And I'm desperately wishing that my mom hadn't thrown out all the Rainbow Brite stuff I had when I was younger!
So I got out my hama beads and made this -

Bigger version here: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k33/chicklitwritergirl/craftster/021-1.jpg

She's 25 inches tall, and is going up on the wall next to my Betty Boop (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=248568.msg2755581) and Totoro (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=247989.msg2748383).
I seem to be starting a collection of giant hama bead characters... Now I just have to decide what to make next!

i am so impressed by your giant perler bead creations!  I would chime in with the above posters in wondering how the heck you do it on this scale...

Thank you to everyone for the comments!  Grin

As for the peg boards, they sell large connectable square boards that are 29x29 beads big and clip onto each other. I get mine on Ebay for 1 each. Rainbow Brite took 15 of them, but even if you only have a few you can always make the seperate parts and iron them together afterwards!

haha, i'm 23 aswell, my mum stoped letting me rent the rainbow brite video when i was a kid cuz she was sick of it, so i went to my auntie's house and she let me rent it :p

That's awesome though, my partner collects anime dvd's and parafinalia (sp?), so i've decided to counter with 80's cartoons and old game consoles, and that would look fantastic in our family-room.
