from 2006 les paul to retro rockin' rockabilly guitar! (pic heavy)

So earlier this month I started a thread in which I showed my guitar, with swallows I painted on with acrylic paints. Well, the swallows were rubbing off, and there was a few pretty large scratches all over my guitar, so I decided to refinish it completely. I took out all the hardware and electronics, and stripped the paint off, sanded the body, repainted it, and polished it to a nice, shiny finish, but less smooth than before to give the guitar a used look so scratches and bumps won't show as much.

also, take a good look at that devil 'cause i'm effin proud of it! I designed it on a whim without any reference!


This craft made me learn a lot both about painting, wood finishing, electronics and guitars. I had a few problems putting it back together, and it's still not 100%, but the electronics work correctly, so it's just a few small adjustements i'll get done next time I see my gf who's stepdad happens to be an absolute guitar maniac.

Hearton: unfortunately, since they were painted free hand, it isn't very straight or symmetric... but at least you can't tell when i'm playing! :p

melyssa_marie: it can't get any better than epically better! thanks The worn look is actually also practical! with the black mirror finish, every dust particle or scratch stood out like hell. now, a bump or scratch is camouflaged by the uneven color!

i love woodgrain. the stain really brings it out. i didn't even notice the part under the strings. do you have a better picture of that part?
