I am a complete and utter nerd, so when I saw the pile of flesh - by the Institute for Figuring http://theiff.org/press/interweave.html - for a crochet model of the hyperbolic plane I just had to make one. Turns out they're really good practice for Increasing as well as looking cool.

They're easy, and once you've made one you can alter the pile of flesh to make even stranger looking shapes, or join the Hyperbolic Coral project.

Anyone interested?

By the way, here are some photos of my hyperbolic piece so far to get you interested -

this is after about ten rows with a C hook and really cheap, coarse yarn, increasing every 4th stitch

I started a red one last year when it was in the magazine - I'll see if I can find it, and post a pic... and figure out where I was on it, maybe Smiley

Decided to make one.  Even though I still don't understand what a hyperbolic plane is I think it came out pretty cool.  I'm going to keep it on my desk so it can make everything look pretty.  Smiley

I think I'll make a scarf using the pile of flesh another day.

I wanted something to do, and I remembered this post. Poorly Tongue I thought it was a PARAbolic crochet-along, so I've been making an exponentially-increasing "thing." It vaguely resembles a brain. Pix to come when it's finito Cheesy
