Clapotis from Knitty

Now that I finally have a camera, I can show my Clapotis progress.  I started in late October/early November and stopped for a bit for the holidays.



It's in Noro Kureyon, color 92.  I didn't know it had every color in the rainbow in it unitl I got it home, but I really, really like it.  This is about four or five balls into it, and it's not long enough yet.  Poor, stubby Clapotis.   It's my first knitting related post to my new blog as well.  If I feel like making it again, it will be in a darker colorway.  This type of color combo will be a good change for me, though.

Thank you   It sort of reminds me of Macaws with all the colors.  I think I'll call it "Amazonian".

I forget how wide it is, I just did the increase section until I felt it was wide enough. But it is over 5 ft long. I used 2 skeins.

Wow, those 'Hydrangea' tones are stunning!

I'm thinking of starting my third Clapotis. I want to make one in burgundy with some gold accent stripes (yes, Gryffindor colors, and proud of it  ) But this being knit on the bias, with the dropped stitches running one way, and colors running another...  anybody have any thoughts on deliberately adding stripes instead of just letting the variegation do it randomly? Would it look weird? Would it even work? I think they would become like the curves on a peppermint candy, but that would be pretty, too.

By the way, I've been wearing Clapotis II (which was not a full size one) to the movies (you can guess which one) and I have to say it is a fabulous pattern for this purpose.... warm but not too much.... and the way it kind of shrinks up when you carry it in over your arm so it's not all bulky and huge, and then expands out to wrap around you. Love it.

Seeing these pics kind of makes me want to do another one!! I love the first (and only) one I made. It's so great. I wear it a lot.
