kimmy: a customer at my shop just recently finished something of an 'uber-Clap' (about twice the usual size) all in a semi-solid purple yarn.  it looks really nice.  if there's a solid color you like, make it in that - it will make the diagional drop pattern even more the focus.

An uber-clap? WOW. Actually, that sounds sort of tantalizing. In a lacy yarn, though, so it wouldn't be too heavy, but wider so that it would be more sari-sized. Well, now.
And hooray for solid claps! I really want to make another one that's in a good variegate,, but the pattern is so much fun that I don't mind that I made it in a solid colour--usually I'm all about the colour-play.
I've got 11 straight repeats done! One more day and I'll be on to the decreasing! This pattern has been even more soothing than my usual knitting, which I find astonishing. Even more reason to knit it again (and again?).

Kimmy,
Thanks for fixing the link.  I am a moron sometimes...

Here's a pic of Mom modeling...

I love the Clappy more in solid colors I think...Less worry about color pooling too.

Sometimes it's knit and sometimes it's crochet.

I just ordered the Brooks Farm Four Play in Lily!

This is the first 'expensive' yarn I've ordered... I think I'm going to make a practice (and much smaller) one out of something else, then jump in.

Of course, this will mean putting the BBBB on hold... my niece/nephew isn't due till November, right?!

Finished! Two weeks of fascinated and delighted knitting! Unfortunately, I can't find the cord for my digital camera, so pictures will have to wait until it surfaces. Ah well. Now, to finish the sock and start Orangina!

After working a deleriously boring 2-day temp job and 2 4-hour bus rides, I've finished my second lace-weight clapotis.  Sadly, not for me; however, it is headed, as I type, to my best friend (who I haven't seen in a little over 2 years... crazy!)  I hope she likes it!!

That is absolutely beautiful! Wowza.

Just cause I'm still new at this and sorta dense about gauge yarn weight and needle size... did  you still use the size 8s from the pattern with the lace weight yarn?

It's absolutely lovely.

(My yarn is sitting in my office building's jail post office... Monday! And must finish, um... 2  WIP and one planned gift before then!)

Thanks!  I used size 10s instead of 8s.  I have no idea what's recommended for the yarn that I used, but just picked a size that I thought would make it lacey, but not terribly snaggable.

I ended up doing 1 less increase repeat and 15 total straight repeats.  It makes for a good sized shawl that way.  Smiley
