I really need some help on increases and decreases.  I'm making a J-Rock/Mohawk hat and it requires me to do some increases, decreases, and picking up stitches.  If there are any more experienced knitters out there who can help me with this dilemma, I would really appreciate it.  Arigato!

Try the videos at knittinghelp.com They show several increases and decreases and how to pick up stitches.
