My Little Zombie...a custom pony! *image heavy, now with halfassed tutorial!*

Yes, well, I've decided that I've become a little too "into" zombie movies as of late, as it appears to have culminated in this, my first ever my little pony makeover:















Yep, a zombie my little pony. Completely rehaired, gore-sculpted, painted-and-sealed pony goodness.
Hope you guys like, or at least are able to stomach, him.

OK, because I was lame and didn't take in process pictures, but still want to let you guys know how I did certain parts, I'm going to try to explain it. Here's what the pony looked like when I started:



Yeah. Quite the makeover. To do the basic stuff like getting the head off and putting hair back in, I used this tutorial:

If that's not enough, just google "custom my little pony tutorial" and you'll be set. I basically scrubbed all the paint off with pure acetone, took the head off and took the hair out, so I had a blank, bald pony. Then, I cut but gashes in the pony with an exacto knife, and, using the neck holes, used fimo clay (the kind you bake in the oven...yep, you can bake the plastic pony!) to sculpt the gory bits. I baked the whole thing (no glue, just clay smashed into pony) and then painted it with watery acrylic paint. You get the best coat by using those triangular makeup sponges from CVS. I sealed the whole thing with Delta Ceramcoat varnish, then used superglue to put the head back on and attach the eye with embroidery floss. Whew!

LOL that is disgusting and yet very cool.  I have a friend (actually 2 friends) OBSESSED with horror/slasher & zombie flicks.  They both buy tons of the licensed toys for some of the big names (Halloween being both of their faves).  They would love that pony!

I am partial to the eyeball and the brain.  Nice work!

Wow awesome - that turned out so great - and gross, but that's the whole point!  I love the brain and eye details.  How did you do the 'down to the bone' parts?  did you overlay the whole rest of the pony with fimo or something?  Great job on this - I am sure it was tons of work.
