So, my daughter was 20 lbs at four months, and is now 1 and 30+ lbs. Because of this, at about five months her infant swing made this AWFUL creaking sound, and did little more than jerk when we put her in it, a fact we will probably laugh at for years to come.
I looked for swings at Target, etc. but they were all plastic, and funky shaped.
So I made her a knit baby hammock. It is a tube of grey basic knit, with a large french seam (like jeans, doubled over) about an inch wide, and it is tied at the top with biodegradable sisal rope, which I think I am going to change out for hemp (softer).
I have tried to get an action shot, but it just looks like a weird lump is in the hammock. I have also started putting a pillow in the bottom when I put her in, so it is kind of like a squishy platform swing. It is VERY close to the ground, so she can get herself out of it without falling or hurting herself.
I should mention that, for now, she hates it. But all of her playmates love it, and all the mom's at my mommy group want one, so she's just being stubborn. It hangs from a hammock stand and I leave it up in the hopes that she will one day like it.
Any ideas on how to get her to enjoy it?
