So I have these old night gown type things, that I want to do something sort of frilly and cosplay/Japanese-y with...
One is blue and one is pink, completely okay to cut up however necessary...

The top I can do..

But I need a good way to make the skirt wide without too much work... I know that layers could do wonders, but I dont have a lot of money and only so many old tee shirts!

Can someone give me some ideas please?!

Tulle might help make the skirt wider. There are some tutu/crinoline tutes scattered around the site. If you look in a thrift store you might be able to find a dress or skirt that has one and you can just cut out the crin. and use it. Tulle is also a rather cheap fabric (normally about 1 USD a yard but sometimes it goes on sale or you can use a coupon to make it even less than that). If you made a few layers for the skirt, adding tulle under it should make it nice a poofy.

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.

Thank you!
I didn't think about using tulle. That could work, and I have some! *yay*
