Okay, here is my mess! I am so overwhelmed I don't know where to begin!

It's awful - I was in a personal swap and I finished her package (a sublimated mug) but I haven't sent it because I can't find the blasted thing in all of this mess!

I've been swamped in stuff and trying to make a go of moving it a tiny bit by tiny bit.  I've even started a blog (storyofmystuff.blogspot.com) to catalog each item and each thing as I decide what to do with it.  It's going to be slow going, but at least it's going!

I have a problem with my mess too...Ive been trying (and it seems to be working!) to put away at least 5 things every night before I go to bed. And though I haven't tried it, someone recommended getting a timer and setting it for 15 minutes, In that time you clean up as much as you can, and you'd be surprised at how much you can do in so short a time without being overwhelmed. Hope this helps...we're all in this together!

Well, I did have a clean-ish craft room... then finals came along and a bunch of other stuff... and here is how it looks now... not as bad as some, but a lot worse than I want it to be

Also, does anyone have a good way to sort their stickers? I have a lot and my current system is not working for me anymore...

I have already gone through them and taken out the ones I don't want or no longer need... you should have seen it before I did that Shocked

I will post updates here but the more detailed list and things are here -> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=226397.0

wouldn't it still work if you had more than one binder?

Unfortunately the sheet protectors are awkward when I want to get something out. I may have something in mind that might work.

I'M IN!!  My craft/guest/office room is in bad shape.

Here's the pics:

Entrance: not too bad, right?  Looks like someone could actually sleep on the bed!

Desk area:  still not too bad.  Just a lot of furniture on the one wall.

Craft stash: now we're getting a bit on the cluttered side.

Closet: holy crap!  That's where the mess is!

Here's my to-do list:

Sort yarn: plan projects for everything in there or get rid of it.
Sort scrapbooking supplies
Organize files
Sort through each closet shelf - determine what to keep and what to sell/donate
Sort through clothes - determine what to keep and what to sell/donate
Have yard sale!  (Planned for Sep. 6th)
Plan closet organization
Buy organizers
Get rid of big craft cabinet - move items in it to back of closet
Move filing cabinet to closet
Buy/build corner desk that will accomodate computer and sewing machine
Buy/build bookcase for books that are in master bedroom
Paint
Make curtains for closet
Make curtains for windows
Bed linens
Headboard
Buy/build at least one bedside table

fashion09:  You're doing such a great job getting through your list!  Thanks for starting this up!

ok some of you people have a "before" picture that looks like what my "after" picture will be...
IF i manage to get it even that good.   Shocked

but i know everyone's standards are different and stuff.  and no criticism intended, because everyone should do what works for them and if that's being 17million times neater than i'd ever manage, well, all i can say is i kneel down before your neatness.  that is, i would if i could find the floor.   Roll Eyes

I used to think it would be impossible to keep anything as clean as I do (and some would not call it clean) but once I got it clean I realized how much faster and easier it was for me to accomplish projects in a clean/organized area. Which means more swaps... which means more fun  Grin If you just give it a try you may never go back.
