I made this last Saturday and it turned out so great.

I had never made a pointy hat before and so I just elongated the rows where I wasn't reducing. I went like this:
k2tog *k6 k2tog until end of row
k 1 row
k2tog *k5 k2tog till end of row
k 2 rows
k2tog *k4 k2tog till end of row
k 2 rows
k2tog *k3 k2tog till end of row
k 3 rows
k2tog *k2 k2tog till end of row
k 4 rows
k2tog *k1 k2tog till end of row
k 1 row
k2tog till end of row
k 1 row
k2tog till end of row
there's your point!

I love the colors!  Is that one type of variegated yarn, or did you pick out different colors of yarn?

It was just one skein of yarn and I love how the patterns turned out.

So cute!
I really want to make a hat like that, but when it comes to hats I'm hopeless without a pattern. Did you go off of a particular pattern or just make it up? If you have a pattern, I would love to see it! <bloooop>
