Going to Boston on Holiday - need good places to visit???

My husband and I are leaving to visit boston this weekend  - never been. Would love some local insider information on some cool places to visit. Good eats, shopping, etc. Of course we are going to a Red Sox game and I believe we are going to go whale watching too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!! I am so excited - I love visiting new place and boston has always been on the "list" of places to go. We are visiting my husbands friend who is a DJ on one of the local radio stations 101.7 AM show The Sandbox - special ed. I've already started to pack - thanks so much in advance for the info.
