My husband makes Chain mail jewlery its awesome!  Grin  Just think of Knights in armor.  Those metal shirts they wear under the big Breast plates are chain mail.

Same thing, yes Scooter? I notice I spelled it differently I could be wrong.  Grin

oh.... chain mail, I didn't know you could make jewellery out of that...

I know what you mean by challenging yourself though, I'm learning an additional skill for this swap too  Wink

same thing Anya--ive seen at least three different spellings on it maille is the most common spelling ive seen.

traditionally it was used in the 12-17 centuries ((ish)) to make armor, by the time it faded from history "modern" cultures ((as opposed to "ancients" like the romans who were doing this centuries prior to the rest of the world because they understood metal forging [sp])) were using scalemaille, same techniques used to make armor, but encorporating metal plates into it for added protection.

you can use it to make weaves--what they use to make armor out of, or chains for jewelery...you can also use weave for jewelery, to make wristbands, collars, etc. but for the most part im learning chains--because its all made out of links ((jump rings essentially)) ive found that its very good for unique necklace chains and charm bracelet style jewelery, as you can easily link a charm or pendant onto a single link and it doesnt move around on you.

Chain mail, that's cool! I would love to learn how to do that.

I like swaps because they give you a chance to try new things. I might be expanding my skills for this swap too.

Yes, hardware genius is here ... Smiley this woman can give ironman a run for his money (if he were real and not a fictional comic book character....)

I'm off soon to enjoy my big birthday lunch (when the house wakes up) but will check back in later today girls
