hey i was wondering if you could silk screen on satin. i want to start screen printing but i also want to start making my own dresses i have this great pattern but i think it would be really cute with a little something on the bottom but i can't find a fabric that i like. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=i39v83&s=3 (sorry can't post pictures yet)
i think something like this would be cute across the bottom left side! but will it work on satin or would i have to make the dress in cotton?!?!

This post is a little old but I have the same exact question. Is it possible to silk screen on "shiny" fabrics like satin?

I've never tried it before, but I would be concerned about the bias of the fabric and that the satin would burn under a flash-dryer.

You can print with pigment inks onto ANY kind of fabric including satin. They just have to be textile inks (water-based) so that they contain the necessary binder that adheres them to the fabric. When it comes time to heat cure them  use an iron with parchment paper, the dryer or an oven. You can check out my blog post for more detailed info on heat curing your fabric. If you pin you fabric properly or adhere your fabric with table adhesive you won't have to worry about the bias at all.
Happy printing!
