My MIL gave me a huge tub of yarn, and I'm tired of making scarves.  That's all I really know how to knit, and I'm not a fan of crocheting.  What are some other crafts I can make with yarn?  I've tried doing a search here, but it always leads me to the knitting or crocheting forums.

No, I haven't tried either. I'll check into it, but please keep the ideas coming.  I watch my niece's 3 little ones quite a bit, so kids' craft ideas are welcome too.  I'd prefer something that can be used as gifts or sold at craft fairs.

yarn dollies? i remember my nana making them with us when we were small
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Yarn-Doll fairly simple but fun, and if you make little ones you could put them on keychain to sell at craft fairs
weaving can be done with kids too if you have the supplies to knock together some basic little looms, then they can make coasters or something (they'll most likely weave tight and make something that's nearly bulletproof)

I don't know how old the kids are but a lacing board might be nice. You could teach them to tie their shoes.

I'm having a brain fart so forgive me because I forget what this is called haha!

Take a balloon and dip the yarn into glue and paste it all over the balloon...let it dry then pop the balloon and you can make a lamp outta that!
