thanks once more to beastbunny for providing that great folded fabric flowers tutorial. i noticed that there were a bunch of you wondering how the rounded petals are made.
i've come up with a way of doing it, i hope it makes sense. i can clarify if i've been "jane-ish."
this process uses nearly the same technique as beastbunny's method, there's just one teeny tiny change in the folding direction in step 5:
ok, here we are at beastbunny's step 5. you should have a triangle with raw edges on one side, two folded edges on one side and three folded edges on the third side.
now open up the fold you just made so you have something that looks like this:
it's basically that first triangle you folded with the two long points folded up to meet at the top point. now flip this over to the side without the folding on it.
now fold the corners of the "diamond" in to meet at the together at the center of diamond. this is what it should look like:
with that side of the fabric facing you fold the two halves together like you're closing a book. when making a pointy petal what would normally be the "right" side is now the "wrong" side. you'll be able to tell the difference.
now just run your needle and thread through the base of the petal making sure to "catch" all the layers that you just folded...you know, following all the regular steps. trim the excess fabric off the bottom and you'll have formed a petal like this:
then just sting 'em together and away you go.
