Hello Craftster peoples. This is my first post ever. I finally managed to get an account set up to make it. This project is really old, from 2005, but it is my crafting masterpiece and I just had to share it.

I made this dress from pieces of other clothes, using a cut-up 80s sheath dress for a pattern. It worked surprisingly well to do it that way, and even handsewing it at my night job I think the whole thing only took me about eight hours or so of actual sewing. I painted myself blue with eyeshadow when I wore it--you can see a little of that on the neckline.

And fortunately, my husband is tall and skinny enough to make this look work. Jack also has some pinstripe pants, but they're just black pants painted like the jacket, which I also sewed by hand at my night job. He also had a nice stuffed fabric bowtie but that was lost to the ages and halloween parties. Unfortunately he couldn't see or hear well because of the vinyl mask he had to wear.

Edit: Here's me in the one picture that was taken of me wearing it that I know about! And someone not too good with pictures scanned it from an instant camera. But if you squint, you can make it all out pretty well.
Thanks for looking and I hope these bring a little Burtonesque joy to your day!
(And if my noobposting skills aren't up to par please let me know!)

What a great job!
Thanks for the inspiration as I'm thinking of decorating my yard
using the movie as my theme.
