Hi Everyone!

I made this a few months ago, but totally love it!

Ooo! It's so steampunky. I love it! I esp. like the little disc with the numbers on it.

thanks folks! Steam punkie is the look I was going for. (Big fan of the steampunk stories)

the disk with the numbers on it is from a watch face - it's the internal part of the face that rotates to show the date.

I'm addicted to DDR. I need a 12-step program.

Must...resist urge...to...scour thriftstores...for...datey watches... Actually, since we're on the subject, where's the best place to get steampunk-esque gears? I went to a watch repair place, and they looked at me funny. Smiley Is it easiest just to get your hands on some cheap watches and tear them apart, or is there a steampunk jewelry supply store I don't know about? *crosses fingers* Not that I wouldn't love tearing things apart. Smiley

This is a fabulous piece! I love the tiny gears, too - I'm glad you were able to tell us what the date wheel was.

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."

I found some on Ebay. I did a search for "Watch Gears". Doing it today I came up with this...

Oh sorry - I didn't' see your reply before I posted mine above. I've never taken watches apart. I bought some parts from hobby Lobby when I lived in Austin and ordered some online from skybluepink.com.
