Ok I don't know if there has been any like this but I've been thinking about it for awhile.

Does anyone else ever buy fabric or yarn that you MUST make something out of for yourself but you never get around to it but don't want to toss it in a swap package?

I have a lot of that laying around and I thought hey, wouldn't it be cool if I could gather up the fabric, some buttons, zippers, appliques, etc. and send it off to someone to make something out of it for me?

That's basically my idea. You buy the materials (doesn't necessarily have to be sewing), send it to your partner, and in about a month receive a finished object out of what you sent!

This would be a pretty low-cost swap unless you insist on buying all new materials, but i encourage going through your stash because i know that i can't be the only one who is hording materials lol

So basically the requirements would differ from person to person, but essentially you'll be sending a kit, making something out of the kit you receive, and receiving a finished object.

Questions/comments/interest??

I really like this idea. I could get rid of some of that yarn I bought before I found out I can't learn to purl.

I LOVE this idea!!!  I have fabric and notions for several handbags (drawings as well), but I'm not very good at the sewing thing... Undecided  It would be nice to finally see one of my "good ideas" come into fruition.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is hoarding materials, haha.
I'm thinking in the questionnaire we're going to need a few important questions. 1. what materials do you have in mind to send to your partner? 2. What are some things you would like made out of your materials? 3. Which crafts are you good at?

I think to keep this a little more open, everyone should give more than one idea for the materials they're sending. Like, I would really like a handbag but wouldn't mind a different type of bag or a skirt.

Or another thing I think might be fun is leaving the first two questions blank, and buying supplies for something your partner is good at and then letting your partner know once you've sent the materials. Because someone might love polymer clay stuff but never bought anything for it, but if you get a partner who is a polymer clay master, why not? lol
