I made this for my husband for our anniversary. It took one and a half days, 2 spools of thread, and 4 heavy duty needles!! lol

The outside is greenish canvas and the inside is some kind of black denim or something. I used the heaviest pellon sew-Generalgin interfacing that I could find. I used quilt binding for the edge of the flap. I had the dragon patch specially made for me by someone on Etsy. I designed the whole thing myself, using no tutorials, patterns, or anything! My husband kept on thinking of little things he wanted me to add on, as I was sewing the whole thing.

Sorry if the bag seems dirty and stuff, it has already been on one crazy camping trip Smiley It actually holds it's shape really well and is symmetrical, etc.

Here are the little sketches I made before I started:

General views of the bag, closed and open (showing the Dragon patch):

Adjustable Strap details:

Some of the little extras requested by my husband:
Zipper pocket under flap, a *very* padded ipod pocket, two disappearing velcro loops for cords, hook for his keys:

Lastly, I used an old belt we had for the flap of the bag, as decoration, and as the fastener:

Thanks for looking, hope you like it!! Smiley

Wow, that bag is awesome! Especially since you didn't have a pattern or anything! Your husband is one lucky guy!

That is an awesome bag, and looks to be very well made! ...I have to admit I'm a little jealous of your husband.

wow, I hope my DH doesn't see this!  Good job, I love all the extras put into the bag, you have some patience Smiley

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

Wow!  I love that!  Despite its manly ruggedness and my sissy-girliness, I would carry that bag proudly every day!!  Amazing work. Cheesy

Yes, I have one of those, too. ^^;
