this used to be a pair of black jeans and a pair of black gingham capris and about two-thirds of a yard of toile

(my cousin requested a toile and black purse, so i made a tote from these same ingredients - these were left over and since i started making these backpacks --
i thought this would be a good way to use them up) ---the project is from the book Sew Many Bags Sew Little Time by Sally Southern

on this one, i made regular straps (not adjustable - that's the next trick i'm going to learn)
--the other denim backpacks had straps made from the jeans waistbands

and here's the toile lining

as it's my 5th one, it went together pretty easily. two hours start to finish - including stringing through the drawstring (i hate that part, but i love the results)
a tad more elegant than the blue ones, but i still like it, and i bet she will too!!
