The dress looks lovely, I'm glad you're not stressed about it, you couldn't wear it 5 sizes too big!

Lol...I just did something vaguely similar a few weeks ago or so...I was whacking through a stack of towels to make diapers for my sister's new baby, and had just finished demolishing an admittedly lush, plush white robe, when I reached the last few cuts, and found the Dior embroidery on the lapel. :p Not nearly as dramatic as a VINTAGE silk Dior, but still a whoops moment. To salvage, I made sure the label featured prominently on the outside of one of the pieces of the inner diaper. Grin

Far better for vintage silk to be adored in a second "reconstructed" life than to be a lonely disregarded relic languishing in the back of a thrift store rack for eternity.

Haha, that is pretty funny. But hey, it was either alter it or sell it, and by altering it you get to say you have a custom made Dior!

It's a lovely dress and is worn and appreciated now, so that's ok.

On a related note, I got a Dior tie from the thrift shop for $1. It's Gryffindor striped and is thus now part of my Hermione costume.  Grin

Dont worry. I have also done this. But I didn't feel terrible, because it was some nasty lipstick red teacher skirt (I'm assuming the other half of a skirt suit). I made up for it by buying some other Christian Dior pieces, so I wont have a fashion legend ghost hanging over my bed anytime soon.

On the bright side, it looks fantastic!
