i couldn't stop myself from making more of these denim backpacks!!
(from Sew Many Bags Sew Little Time by Sally Southern)

these i made with fabrics i have had for a long time and didn't know what to do with them -- especially the jeans with these really great pockets

here's a closeup of the pocket

one is lined with a velvety poppy fabric (i think this picture looks gross, but i couldn't get a better one)

and this one is lined with a waverly cowboy print

like the other backpacks i did, these use the jeans waistband as the straps

i have no idea what i'm going to do with these
(well, i will have to find a home for the poppy one, but i think i'm keeping the cowboy one for my own self!! can you imagine? getting to keep something i made?!?!?!)

thanks for looking

These are so cute. From the gallery picture it looked like homemade pet beds made from denim jeans and little yorkies sticking their heads out with cute little red bows in their hair. How funny. These are great recons. They are really cute.

-even pulled a pair of my husband's (too big) jeans
out of the goodwill pile
--i knew i saved those cool pockets for something!!

i have some other pants though - i think i may try those next!!

To kaymadben, OMG!, I thought the same thing only I thought they were weenie dogs. I thought why is she posting doggy beds on the purse site!?! LOL! My husband gained 55 pounds this year so I have plenty of jeans to practice these back packs on. I am a fairly new sewer, been sewing less than a year so I'm not sure how they will turn out, but here I go! Tongue

i have been sewing for a while, but i'm not very good at it - my lines are never straight and the stitching is uneven - not to mention i hate pinning and using patterns
but the hardest part of making these bags is making sure the edges are straight (the seams in women's jeans are pretty curvy - so they threw me WAY off on some) - i finally made a template and it's a lot easier (haha - and i said i didn't like using patterns! - well in this case it really helps)
good luck
