Hello there!  Here are a few things I've been working on lately.

The first is a tiered twirly skirt for a belly dance performance we've got coming up next week:

The second is a tiered twirly skirt I made for a friend for the same performance.  She didn't want hers as full:

This is a dress I made using Lamby's tutorial, but I left out the zipper:

And this is a dress made by modifying that tutorial to give it an empire waist and a different bust:

Enjoy!  Comments are always welcome!

Edit:  http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/05/patchwork-circle-skirt.html
This is the tutorial I used to create the two tiered skirts.  I just left out the patchwork part, and used solid rectangles in the lengths that I needed.  The copper one took roughly 5 yds. of material, and the finished hem is 10 yds. long, and the white one took 8 yds with a 15 yd. finished hem.  The top tier on the white one is constructed like a very short circle skirt, to give maximum twirl while dancing.

Check out this link to see a video of our skirts in action!  http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=36185274
It's small, and blurry, but when we do the freestyle at mid-point, you can see the movement of both skirts really well!

And here's a pic of the two of us together afterward:

And one of Nancy dancing!:

Oh, I made my top, too!
Enjoy!

Aw, thanks, guys!  I actually used the "rainbow patchwork twirly skirt" tutorial that someone else posted to make it, I just skipped the patchwork step!  I'll see if I can find the link.  Oh, except, on the white skirt, since I wanted a lot of fullness, the top tier was cut like a circle skirt, instead of a rectangle, and then the tiers were added onto the bottom of that.  But those are the only two changes I made.  The copper colored skirt is all rectangles.  I did work from the bottom up (longest tier first) in construction, and found it a lot less stressful than others have mentioned it being, doing it from the top down.  ~Off to find the link~

Dancing is too fun!  I love our local studios--the girls are all fantastic teachers, and it's a great way to meet new people and exercise!  I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who's ever given it the remotest thought.
