So I recently got into both wet and needle felting and wanted to show off some of my work. First off is a vintage inspired pillbox hat with an orchid "flower spike" on the side. I made this to show at my local orchid show.

Here is a close up of the flowers on the side. I am especially fond of the second to the bottom that is made to look as though it is in the process of opening.

And the front
Secondly, a felt fedora. They sell fedora blocks online, but I was unwilled to shell out 30 bucks so I ended up buying one of those cheap plastic hats from a local costume shop. I covered to whole thing in duct tape to reinforce it and shoved an old sweater inside. After making the basic felted shape I did the final fulling on top of the block with just tons of hot soap and water. A bit of blue velvet ribbon, a gold vintage button, and a peacock feather and I have myself a feminine version of the classic Indiana Jones hat Wink

Those are awsome! My roomate keeps saying she wants a new fedora and I have been thinking about trying my hand at making her one. That orchid hat is the bomb! You look so cute in it too.

Oh my gosh! I love your hats and have the strongest desire for a felt fedora. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a plastic hat to use as a mold like you did. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Cute! Did you know, fedoras were originally made for women, and not till years later picked up by men. Why? Practicality. Living in a dirty city, it was nice to have a wide brim to keep the gunk out your eyes. Keep up the good work!  Cheesy
