Sometimes it's knit and sometimes it's crochet.

The color turned out GORGEOUS, and the shaping is excellent! Well-done!

It's beautiful and fits you perfectly.  I love the colour, too.

Your sweater is so cool, and fits you perfectly.  I love the look of it.  I'm ready to try and knit it girly-style (thank you for the mods).  However, I'm already stuck with this part- ( I worked 5 paired decrease rounds (every 6th row), which decreased 20 stitches. Increased every 6th row back up to 140.)
Can you explain this part?  thank you so much and excellent job on that sweater!

Thanks again to everyone for the nice comments - they're really appreciated!

Jakkeblue - re the waist shaping, what I did was knit until I was ready to start waist shaping, which was about 4 inches, and then I worked the decreases right against the garter panels, but not into it.  So my first decrease round was on a knit round - K12 garter panel stitches, K2Tog, knit to 2 stitches before next marker, SSK, K12 garter stitches, K2Tog, knit to 2 stitches before next marker, SSK.  These paired decreases caused the decreases to lean up to the garter panel, which I thought looked nice.  I then knit 5 rounds as per the pattern and did another decrease round.  I did 5 decrease rounds total - each round decreases 4 stitches.

I then worked 7 or so rounds without any shaping and moved to increases - K12 garter panel stitches, M1R, knit to next marker, M1L, slip marker and K12 garter stitches, M1R, knit to next marker, M1L.  Worked 5 rounds as per pattern, and worked another increase round.  Work a total of 5 increase rounds until you're back to 140 stitches.

I hope that's clear - let me know if you have any questions!
