I've been looking for a cheap ugly little desk at the thrift stores to refinish and I finally found it  Grin  Paid $18.50 for it.  I painted it, cut up squares of scrapbooking paper to look like tiles, decoupaged them on top and upholstered the drawers and of course gave it new hardware.  Here are my very proud results.  It took me about 2 days to complete.  PLEASE tell me you love it as much as I do.  I'm so FREAKING proud!

Before (I almost forgot to take before pics!

After (in progress first)

Gorgeous! I think the drawers make it seem a little busy but I absolutely love the tile effect. You did an amazing job. All the squares look perfectly cut and perfectly placed. I especially LOVE the mickey mouse one. Great inspiration to do my desk now  Wink

I spent soooo long in the scrapbook paper section at Joann's!  Their section is so huge too, that I had a really hard time not choosing too many designs.  I wanted to go with mostly elegant designs to begin with and it was hard to imagine it in smaller pieces, which really did change the look of some of them and as soon as I saw the comic book style of mickey in muted tones that it would be fun addition without looking out of place.  I wish I were able to get the pieces in straighter lines,  but that was waaay harder than I anticipated.  I tried to do the math before I started of how big exactly to make the pieces along with the spaces in order to fit them in across without needing half pieces.  When that proved to be nearly impossible for my geometrically-impaired mind I just winged it with 2 1/2 inch squares.

Anyway, thanks for all the comments- You're making me so happy every time I check in on my replies to posts!!!!  Grin

I loved that one two, I found it going through a desk calendar of scrapbook pages I have, I thought it would be fun to have one little off tile in a random spot.  I love how it turned out!

Yup, just mod modge  Smiley  But I want to put a laquer layer over top of it all, eventually.

As far as someone mentioned and using as a pin cusion- that's an awesome idea and I had I thought of it before hand I might have put that into consideration but as is I don't think the batting is thick enough to hold onto the pin.  Plus, I've got two dogs and they'd probably be constantly knocking them off.

Thanks for all the lovely comments ya'll- truly made me super proud!!   Cool
