Why hasn't anyone else caught on to this?  Cool, breezy, comfortable... and lots of roomy pockets.  This was once a pair of BDU (Battle Dress Utilities in American military parlance) pants that are just too damn hot to hike the mountains in summer.  Solution -- attack with scissors and sewing machine, plus inspiration from Craftster... and...

Combat skirts rock. I made a long one for myself a while back after becoming fed up with the fact that girls clothes never have any pockets!

I actually think that this is a lot of the reason for kilts -- yes, very comfortable.

I myself have hiked in a skirt and it is great, but I don't think I could get my son to try it.  Maybe with  an awesome pair like these he would. Thanks.

I've been toying with the idea of chopping up my husband's military stuff and altering them into something cool... Love the skirt, it never occured to me to go hiking in a skirt. Thanks for sharing!
