Do you think they will hold up outside at a picnic party?  I'd love to make them but am afraid that the chocolate will "sweat" or worse melt in the afternoon heat.

They taste best chilled, but they will most likely hold up. Ours were fine at room temperature; just very soft.

I'm allergic to dairy but this recipe can be done with dairy or even wheat-free mix, right?

Of course! Go for it!

@kartiana & SunflowerSmiles

We have done this with cream cheese frosting before. Definitely has a different flavour. We thought it would be more truffle like since so many truffle recipes use cream cheese. It certainly was delicious, but to be honest, we prefer vanilla. It tasted more 'cupcake' to us. Chocolate would be fantastic!  Tongue

These look delish!! They remind me of those posted over on Bakerella's website....http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/05/cupcake-bites-made-easy.html

Nice work boys, now I'm craving chocolate (lucky for you that doesn't take much work)!

Have a great weekend.

Thank you Destined to Fail,  that was the perfect answer.  Just not the one I wanted to hear.  I'll know now for which occasion to make these.  Again thank you for sharing your experiences and for the great wip  pictures.

Ooh, those look delish! Great idea with the tiny cupcakes; miniature desserts always seem to taste better than big ones!
