I love this! Can you share your buttercream recipe?

Our recipe is very basic. Cream 2 sticks of butter with 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract & 1 tbsp. of milk. Add icing sugar to your desired consistency. We make ours quite thick so it will hold its shape when piped.

these would be great for my sons party at school...ya think?  Have you guys tried chocolate frosting mixed in?  how does that taste? (if you've tried it)  this is such a great idea and super easy!  I can't wait to try it!  modify...what kind of frosting do you use to mix in? homemade?

I love this!!!  They came out gorgeous!!!  I've been thinking of doing this since I saw it on a site called Bakerella.  I believe it was she that made the ones on the Martha Stewart show.  You make them seem so easy.  Do you think they will hold up outside at a picnic party?  I'd love to make them but am afraid that the chocolate will "sweat" or worse melt in the afternoon heat.
(Don't really think they would make it to the picnic they are so cute.lol)  Thank you for the wip pictures.  They are very helpful.
