Hello all. This is my first time posting in a challenge, and it was quite last minute as far as renovations go, since I've been away visiting my sister. All I really did was reupholster the fabric parts, but it was my first time reupholstering anything and it was really fun, except when I cut my finger on the staple gun. Here is an "after" picture.

and here is a picture of the nasty green fabric that I joyfully tore off:

yuck!

I know this isn't a very *wow* kinda project considering that this is a craft challenge, but it felt good to do and I'm proud of the result. I hope you all enjoy it too!

Ew, staple gun cuts are the worst!! I really like the new fabric on this, it's sort of rustic in a fun clean way Smiley

I agree, the before fabric is pretty darn yuck Tongue

Hey Fiber People: I am very interested in personal swaps for painted/dyed roving or top. I can swap supplies or crafted items. Let's talk!

Wow, that chair/desk combo is really neat. And I agree, that fabric really had to go.

I love that!  It would totally be my new favorite chair, because I can write and have my legs all wrapped up underneath the desk part!

That's a really cool piece of furniture.  I agree that the new fabric is great - the old 80's hotel curtain stuff was pretty bad!  Tongue

That is so neat, I've been wanting a gossip bench for my hallway, but haven't stumbled across one yet.

I've always wanted one of those!  It's a lot older than you think.  I showed it to my grandma and she says it's one of those telephone table chair cambo deals from back in the 50s.  She had one, and my mom had one in her first apartment.  Their a rare find around here.  You're so lucky!  Love the outcome!

Actually from the style of trim & such maybe even late 40's Smiley This isn't a renovation it's a restoration. The fabric you put on is very much in keeping what was likely originally on it! The 80's floral clearly replaced something else earlier.
Nice job, I've always liked the telephone chairs myself.

Thanks for all the input, especially regarding the age of the piece. I bought it at an antique store for pretty cheap, but despite the fabric, I loved the design. I'm also a big fan of the design of telephones from the 50's, so hopefully I'll be able pick one up at some point to go with the chair.  Smiley

It's still a pretty cool re-do, I love that combo thing, I think it would be good for journaling on in a nice quiet area of the house!

My great-aunt had a desk/chair like that. And if I'm not mistaken, it was upholstered in in fabric pretty similar to that flowered mess.

Yes!! So awesome... the new fabric really does compliment the piece much better than the scary mu-mu flower print. It's a beautiful piece of furniture.

p.s. Coolest icon EVER!!! I love Charlie!!

Very cool. It's actually called a gossip table. I the phone sat on the desk part while you talked. My mother-in-law bought the abandoned house next to me and one was in it. She let my mom go through to pick out stuff she wanted and she found it. *sigh* I want one, even if I only ever use my cell phone.
