Upon seeing Mloopy's garden gnome poppet here on craftster, I knew it was the perfect project for my friends birthday this coming Saturday. She is a master gardener and horticulturist. Craftster friend Mloopy sent me her great ammendments to ghilie's wonderful poppet pattern and away I went.

Being only my second poppet I decided to try eyelids since I ove everyone elses. I just cut them out and glued them on with crazy glue. They came out okay, but not as nice as I had hoped. I'm really happy with his beard and hair, he's bald underneath his hat (which I still have to fasten into place), but the yarn I used was very fuzzy and made quite a mess while I trimmed him up. He needed a good lint rolling afterwards.

I couldn't use craftewomans clothing patterns since they wouldn't fit, so I played around with my own. I'm very happy with his jeans, his shirt not so much. But everything is hidden away under his beard so no one would ever know. I played around with several hats before I found one that fit okay, and I still may make a few more until it's perfect.

So, without further ado, here's "Mloopy" named after his creator. I've purchased a plant pot and some moss to pack him in for the party on Saturday.

Great job, and as you say, you can't tell that there's anything wrong with his shirt. He looks so cute!

WOW.  I LOVE him.  Herman's shirt is a little funny too. It's all that belly and hips with no back side to speak of.
