I had an old magnet/dry erase board that I really didn't like. Magnets didn't stick to it and I never used the dry-erase side of it. It was a light powdery blue too. Not my color.
So...
I bought a 12" x 18" piece of steel from Lowes. Primed it and covered it with fabric. I only had a scrap of the striped fabric so I decided to use it as a border for the top and bottom and sewed the solid panel in the middle. I glued it down with some spray adhesive (the stuff they use for headliners). I also painted the little dot magnets brown - to match.
I'm happy with it. It's much better than my old one. I don't like how it looks it with the wall color... but I wont be living here much longer.

It looks great. I love bulletin boards made from steel. It's so easy to hang things. I have 3 in the computer room.
