My husband is finally beginning to retire all of his old Pearl Jam t-shirts, but I know they mean a lot to him as most are from concerts. I love the t-shirt quilts I've seen on here and am willing to try, but I don't want to mess it up. So here is what I am thinking and wondering. Comments and advice are wanted!

1) I'm going to use a light interfacing on the shirts before I cut them.

2) I'll cut the shirts into 12x12" squares, or 10x10" due to not buying enough interfacing.

3) What kind of material should I use for sashing?

4) Color of sashing....? I think for this first quilt to just keep it all the same color. Possibly an olive or gray color. It has to go with a bevy of t-shirts that are mostly black, blue, gray or yellow (all faded from age). Also, something that wouldn't show cat fur too badly.

5) Batting - I've never quilted before and have no idea about batting. From the beginner's book I picked up at the library I would use low-loft? Cotton or polyester or a blend?

6) For the back I was thinking of using a flannel that would compliment the front. Thoughts?

There will be lots more questions, but these would really get the ball rolling for me. Thank you!
