From Ratty to Rustic!

Growing up my Grandma had this chair that I always sat in and loved. Now that she's gone I wanted to be able to keep that memory alive HOWEVER....... The chair was SOOOOOOOOOOO ugly! So what's a crafty girl to do? Yep, Grab a pair of pliers, a staple gun and some super awesome leather-ish material and get to work!

I got the whole chair torn apart over a week in April. I saved all the peices so that I would have some sort of a pattern to follow later.








Sadly this is where my involvement with the chair ended.  I had mega back surgery and my husband took over. I guess this was the best way to keep him entertained while taking care of me. 

So he covered it with the material, stapled the heck out of it and hammered in a ton of awesome copper nails.








Now not only do I have an awesome "new" piece of furniture but I also feel as if she's still with me every morning while I enjoy my coffee.

My husband did have a bit of supervision but not too much. I wasn't able to get out of bed for more than a few minutes a day so I did a lot of looking at pictures of it that he would bring into me or sneaking a peek really quick every couple of days.

I really love how it turned out. It's super comfy!

Oh and did I mention that not only is this our first furniture re-con but also my first challenge entry!
