Hi I'm a newbie here but thought I'd try entering the contest.  This is a chair I just finished a couple of weeks ago.  This was an old platform rocker that I picked up on Craigslist.
Here is the before:

I reinforced all the joints, took off the ugly 70's side panels and the ugly decorative moldings on the bottom front.  I made a seat out of wood and used 2 inch wood blocks screwed to the inside bottom of the chair to attach the new seat to.  I added the wood carved details and filled all the holes with wood filler.  Then primed and painted the whole thing white.  The cushions were made with a clearance curtain found at WM for $9.  I tore out all the seams and sewed the cushions.  Then I stuffed them with bedpillows for extra cushiness.  This chair currently sits on my covered porch and is the perfect place to sit back with a cold drink and a good book on a warm day Smiley  I hope you like Smiley

Fantastic - it looks so cool and comfortable and chic -- great recon from such a bulky ugly 70s frame! LOVE the table next to it as well - they go great together!

Beautiful chair!  The carved pieces are a particularly nice addition.  Well done!

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Thank you so much for all the nice comments! Smiley  This was actually the second attempt at redoing this chair.  The first time I tried to do an upholstered seat and back but it just didnt work.  I hated it so much I ripped it apart and moved onto another chair.  I almost threw this one away but figured I'd make one last attempt.  I'm glad I did Smiley

You've really turned this into a treasure. I stripped and repainted a whole bedroom set that was my great-grandmother's, so I have both sympathy for the hard work and appreciation for turning something old into a new treasure. That's a beautiful chair.
