Well I have long skinny mini kiddos!  This makes it difficult with a lot of sewing patterns... even the good ones being wide.  Well for a while I have been wanting to make the girls a bunch of basic leggings to layer with skirts, dresses, jumpers & pinafores.   So I dug out one of my favorite Ottobre's (4/2004) that has both toddler & girls leggings in it, this issue is worth having for all the basics.  Anyways I opened it up to trace it & decided to put a pair of their good fitting leggings next to it to see what I would get!  To my disappointment it wasn't the leggings pile of flesh I was looking for cause the legs were wide and looser then I was looking for. I wanted nice fitted leggings made with fabrics with lots of stretch!

So I decided what the heck & winged it!  I considered tracing & modifying the Ottobre pile of flesh but it needed so much that it wasn't worth it.  Anyways 30 minutes of drawing, cutting & sewing later I have 2 pairs of great fitting leggings!  Just what I wanted Smiley though I did this at 11 at night, so I had to wait 'til morning to try them out.  I now plan on making a some flared yoga style leggings as well, cause I think they are just too stinking cute!

Well enough of the chatting, time for the action shots!

Also finished up Emmy & Emma The Earthworms up that they eat, best part the pile of flesh was free! Pictures & link to the pile of flesh are in my blog.  They use them as an 'accessory' & run around the house with them wrapped around them like you would a feather boa Smiley

They look like they fit just great...great job!  I eat quick to sew patterns.

I have to do that, too, with taking them in a bit.  My kids are skinny so most patterns are too wide for them.

I haven't done too much with knits yet.  How do you do the leggings?  Did you sew them entirely on your serger???  If so what are your settings like?  ANd how do you keep the knit from curling on the edges?  (I guess that all depends on the kind of knit you're using).

I sew them together on my serger... I topstitch them on my sewing machine with a stretch stitch.  I do use my differential setting on my serger.

They are a little big on them now... the twins are on the small size of 12-18m so they should fit them through the fall & winter.  The fit is very similar to their smaller gymbo ones when they still fit.

The only thing I need to do is get some ballpoint needles & the finished hem will be better Smiley
