oh wow , you did such a beautiful job on those, i love the faces you gave your mom tahts such a fantastic gift!!
how do they breathe while youdo the faces, since you said its such a safety hazard id think itd be hard to do the faces..
Hi, You ALWAYS have to keep the nose clear. Weather you use the alginate or the plaster bandage, the nostrils must be kept open and clear. Also, some people CAN"T breathe through their nose. This presents another problem Undecided.
So many safety issues. If you try this, please try on a body part that the body doesn't depend on for breathing.  Kiss

There are other mold making materials. Latex vinyl type stuff. It costs more but you can mold a fist  or enclosed things. And the molds are reusable. Just something else to investigate. I've never done it myself.

There are a multitude of other molding materials that can be used. Many will make reusable molds. The alginate and plaster bandage are the ones I use mostly for 2 reasons. They are much less expensive, and they produce a 'one of a kind' piece. I am always able to tell my models that there will be "only one of these, in the whole world". People love to think that NO ONE ELSE has one like this.
Thanks again, to all of you for looking and all the positive feedback  Kiss

Here, at your request, are a few more pics of my work. This is what it can look like modeling for a torso cast. Messy but, see, she is smiling!
This is a finished belly cast. The Mom put the hand prints of her 2 little girls. The feet prints are of the baby boy that she was pregnant with when the cast was done.
Enjoy  Kiss

these are GREAT. I've done some casting and been casted. Very cool yes. But I had a freak-out moment while getting my face casted. I love my belly casts.

These are GREAT ways to use the casts!
