So this is my first post. I started this quilt shortly after my friends first child was born. I am proud to say that I completed it in time to give it to the baby for her first birthday! The top is machine pieced and I used a beach towel for the back. The binding is a bit wonky, blah, blah, blah. But the good news is that I don't think the 1 year old noticed.
Your feedback is welcome.

Oooh!  I like the fabrics, too (and the cat!).  They're perfect for a project like this.

I'm still learning about quilting, though.  How did you make the zipper-looking stripes between the big blocks?  Did you have a pattern for the project?

I really like the zipper parts, more eye catching than regular lines, though I'll probably be doing lines between blocks for the next couple of quilts.

thank you for all the kind comments. The zipper parts between the blocks were really quite easy. I did alternating squares (pink and yellow for example) and put a long pink strip on one side and a long yellow on the other. The result is a zipper look. I didn't have a pattern - just a zen afternoon of creativity.

That is super cute!  Where'd you get the kitty cat fabric?  My DS is in love with cats (too bad he's allergic)  Tongue

I got all the fabrics at a wonderful store near my home in NC. They have thousands and thousands of bolts of fabric to choose from.
