I created this duvet cover as a wedding present to my husband. It took me over a year to complete (I have a short attention span...). I had never done a project like this(embroidery/sewing) and learned a lot in the process. Nothing like starting out small, huh!? It certainly isn't perfect but I 'm really happy with the result and my husband really loves it Smiley

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hey Fiber People: I am very interested in personal swaps for painted/dyed roving or top. I can swap supplies or crafted items. Let's talk!

I completely agree, this is beautiful!

Did you embroider the celtic knot design and then sew the quilt together?
I would love to make something as beautiful as this but I'm still working on my sewing skills.

I embroidered the celtic knot border on a piece of cloth that my grandmother had stashed away for years and years. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it when I was finished, but it "told me" it wanted to live on our bed as a duvet cover, so voila! The sewing was basically just straight lines.

Attaching the embroidery to the larger piece posed some problems. I think partly because nothing was actually square. I also forgot to use interfacing on the embroidery, so it puckered quite a bit. Live and learn! I say, go for it and don't expect perfection. You will learn so much by just jumping in!!

It's absolutely beautiful.  Well worth the time it took, I'd think.
