I don't know about yarn, but Rockwall is home to Bally Beads on Ridge Road. It is a fabulous bead store!!!

Rockwall has your typical Hobby Lobby & Walmart Fabric Departments.  There are some quilting shops in smaller cities nearby and Mesquite (about 15 miles away) has a Joanns and I think a Hancock, along with a few other fabric/quilting stores.

In Terrell (about 20 miles away) there is a group of spinners.  A lot of Quilting Circles, but usually the older set.

The Hobby Lobby in Rockwall is pretty good about marking down clearence items and remnants.  Their yarn is usually well stocked also.  I don't mess with Walmart too often, but some of the ladies that work the fabric counter are very knowledgable.  The JoAnns in Mesquite has very helpful ladies, and they get a good selection of fabrics.

Some of the churches have different craft groups also.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.  If I don't know, I'll try to find out.
