I think my altered journal is the only craft I'll be able to spend any time with once school gets in full swing. I'd really like to do something to the cover. Can I paint it? Should I put fabric over it and staple or glue it down? Can I put paper on it? I'm not sure how to do any of this so the book won't look weird when I open it.

Maybe you could cover it with scrapbooking paper or fabric.

I have a smallish book that I picked up at a used bookstore in Sylva, NC this summer and I decided that it would be fantastic for an altered journal.  And I'm so glad someone directed me this way because the posted here pages here are fantastic! When I get some more pages done and they look a little better (in my opinion) I may post some.  For right now I'm enjoying the other pages posted.  Cheesy

I'm new here so I've been going around commenting on all the pretty stuff to prove I'm not a SpamBot. *g*

Looking at all the amazing projects in this thread inspired me to try my hand at an altered journal as well. I got most of my craft stuff packed up because I'm doing an extreme home-makeover in the near future (ie when I no longer have the plague and is allowed to walk among people again), so I had to make do with what I could find.

I consider this one to be a 'prototype'. I plan on making a huge one later on when I got all my stuffs organized, so this one's just for fun on the theme of fairytales and magic. All pages are works in progress.

The text on the butterfly one says: Fly fly little wing, fly beyond imagining, pass the planets and the stars, leave this lonely world of ours. It's stolen from a Celine Dion song that I haven't heard in years, but for some reason those lines stuck in my head.

All 'water color' detail is made with water color pens, because I can't find my actual water colors in the mess of bags and boxes. Also, sorry for the crappy pics, my camera's in Scotland and my scanner's packed in a box. *g*

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
Above all, try something.
