I was thinking about this some more and it seems most art therapy is usually ummm... psychology w/ an art minor type of approach. One of the programs near me is a couple of rooms with lots of shelves filled with art supplies and you do basically whatever you want. Sort of like my house  Grin except here I work alone. There you're pretty much elbow to elbow. Plus they have support services if you need someone to talk to.
calluna - Perhaps teaching art at a community college would work for you. I had one teacher that I really liked. We had to do a lot of thumbnails. And she would nudge us/me in the direction she thought would work best. Every time she gave us an assignment. I would panic. Thinking, I haven't the foggiest what to do. But everything I finished in her class, I loved. Still love.
I think I would love a children's art program. I remember a major art gallery in town had a children art program, fine arts. I never got to go.

Art therapists also work in hospitals and after care units to assist patient with development in areas such as muscular coordination, motor skills, sensory stimulation and self-esteem. Smiley

Also, to keep it back on topic before we get shouted at Wink

I still need to work on the right page and decide what to write on the circular tab. Any ideas? Cheesy

I really really like the left page, its super cute. I love circles, 'cause they remind me of bubbles. =)

Looking at the right page, I think a fairy or elf or something would fit in really well, using the same colours as you used on the left.

The look like really whimsical pages and a whimsical creature would fit in really well.

It's funny how pages evolve isn't it? I think sometimes it becomes very therapeutic, like your subconscious is working it's way out onto the page. Of course sometimes it's just artistic flair!

I agree, sometimes I start off knowing what I want to create, sometimes I just see where my mind goes. I find it interesting to see where I end up!!
As for art therapy I think this IS my art therapy

Phizzy I like the page but have no idea what to write on the tab!

Ive been working on some more of mine that were in spaces before the rainbow pages, so Im nearly up to date now.
I love these two although the second one might not be finished yet.

This is just a little bit more work on the other side of the felting which someone (cant remember who) said looked like moss on a tree so its a bit more bark like now, the second page is just a background at the moment but I like how its shiny.

Also Ive added a little bit to my blue page

And more work on ATCs if anyone fancies being sent one for inspiration!

I love the stripes coming out of that (whatever instrument that is Embarrassed ), it's so vibrant!
I also really like your additions to your blue page.

Thanks Phizzy - and I Dont know what instrument it is either.

Heres another page I finished off this morning - its a bit more serious and I left the file big under the thumbnail so you can read the writing. (erm although looking at it I still dont think you can read the writing and it wont let me post a bigger file) I dont think its hugely artistic but what I like about it is that none of the writing and pictures are actually originally related to the subject of the pages, even the title was for an article about something else entirely.

Journaling and art have always been my forms of personal therapy. This sort of journaling is wonderful because it combines the two.

I believe the instrument on your page Gem is a French Horn. Wink I love the effect of the paper leaving the bell of it. Your felted pages look great. I like that all of the stuff on your eating disorder pages weren't originally found together. They work really well together, and pull the seriousness of the topic to the forefront. I haven't gotten around to trying my hand at atcs yet. Soon though!

Phizzy, I love the circles! I agree that the pages look very whimsical. I think maybe you should carry some of the circles across to the page on the left. Maybe also some stars across the pages with larger ones on the left page, and tiny ones sprinkled in with the circles on the right. Geometric shapes can be whimsical. Smiley

I personally have been busy and neglecting my book. I did pick up a smaller book (both in height and amount of pages!) this weekend which I may use as a pocket journal to sketch in on the run. It's falling apart at the bindings and too decrepit to fix, so I won't feel bad about tearing pages out to incorporate into my 400 page monster journal. Wink

Gem, that eating disorder page, I really like it. But it spooks me, I can't find any words to desribe how it makes me feel. I can only read the text at the top, what do some of the others say?

I really like this thread, I'm so glad I found it.
I may try another page right now.
1.30am, at the tiny computer desk, it can only lead to disaster.
