It's a pretty cool technique...like batik for paper! Cheesy

That reminds me of another cool thing to try using 2 pages.

1. rub chalk on one page
2. cover the chalk with oil pastel
3. place the opposite page over it & draw a design using pencil or just a pointy object like a pointy knitting needle on the plain page
4. open the page up...you have a line drawing one side and the design drawn in the other.

I'll get here's a (not very good) scan of the test page from my sketch book to show it Smiley

Gem- Your banana looks So good! I love the idea of using ATCS on your pages. I've never made one, I'm thinking about getting into those now too. Cheesy

Phizzy - That's a pretty neat technique too. I'll have to give it a try. Smiley Maybe when we get around to doing that theme page.

(Id found a copy of "So Long and Thanks for all of the Fish" with fantastic pages but I love that story too much so couldnt. Tongue)

Gemcraft - I agree

Phizzychick - I love the way that looks. I will definitely try it.

I find some typos funny. "pretty meat technique" <-DanniQuee Would it work with beef jerky?

I just read all 17 pages of this, and wow, you gals have done some absolutly amazing work, you've inspired me.
I can't draw, but I think I am going to have a go with this, though it will mainly be collage and scribbles. And probably a lot of words -- I love words.
I may try a page tonight, I'll post it if I think its good enough!

Alright, here goes.

I choose a page in my book (which is falling apart and absolutly useless) which was half text, half an image. I did the background red, no reason why I chose it, it was simply the only paint I could find. Then I went through an old newspaper and cut out words that stood out to me, not thinking at all how they related to me or each other. I came up with the phrase and put them around the girl in the image, she was the 'star'. I opened my holepunch and was gunna glue lots of circles but it was too stressful so I went crazy with the red paint, (added mroe after I took this photo!) felt it was still too empty, so I added the triangles down the side. No prizes for guessing who I stole THAT idea from!!!
I like the way it all came together without me even planning it.
I know its nothing spectacular but I'm happy with it as a first go!

I would love any opinions suggestions or anything else you can give me, thanks!

That's so interesting to read how it all came together, and I really like your layout because the girl totally becomes the focus. I love that the words completely cover the rest of the family's heads, so it's just her looking out.

The only think I might be tempted to do (if you think it may be unfinished) is to add something to the bottom left to balance the page out, maybe a few of your hole-punched dots? I'm terrible with cramming lots of detail though so that may just be my 'busy' style! Cheesy Roll Eyes

Thanks Phizzy, looking back at it, I agree that the bottom left does look unbalanced, the circles idea is a good one, and is probably alot easier with dry paint!
I was also thinking of drawing a camera with the same pen I used for the noose. But then I realised I have no idea how to draw one! haha.
