I've got a question too.  Do you have a little travel set of watercolors you take with you and use on the go, or do you stick to colored pencils and pens when you're out bopping around town?  Or do you use something else entirely?  (Huh?What Else Is There Huh?)

The red and orange pages look beautiful. I love the pomegranate! Yum!

I don't prep my pages either, I just apply watercolours directly to them. Some of the pages are a lot thinner than others for some reason, so when I hit some of those I actually glue 2 pages together using a really thin paste to make them more sturdy.

If your book has glossy pages like most text books, watercolours tend to bead up on them and not stick very well.  Undecided

I'd love to see what you come up with! I'm brand new to this as well. Smiley

If I'm just going out locally then I'll watercolour a few pages first, then use pens and pencils and things when I'm out and about. If I'm going away somewhere, then I'll take the travel watercolours and a container for water. Smiley

Heres my red and orange pages. I keep intending to do something that I count as art instead of cutting and sticking!!! But I keep collaging instead of drawing!

I am pleased with these . And Im SOO pleased that for some reason I once decided an Old El Paso free recipe booklet would be a good thing to keep for crafting cos its got fab SINGLE COLOUR pages and writing in it!! Plus I used some red paint, red shiny paper, a pressed flower, some orange (I know the pictures are red - sorry) wrapping paper my parents bought me a present back from Venice in, some orange shiny paper and some felt tips.

I love you pages Gem, in particular the orange one with the Venice background. It's so well laid out.

I wish collaging was a strong point of mine.  Roll Eyes

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone... I am definitely going to experiment tonight and see how the pages of this chem book will handle watercolor (they're the glossy kind, might have to dig in to my acrylic stash!).

Gem- Love your pages, I am drawn to collage as well Cheesy

Phizzy- Went back to look at your pages again, really inspirational! I didn't notice it was a pomegranate on your red page until someone else mentioned it. D'oh! Looking super though, can't wait to see the other color pages Cheesy

alexandraf - if you have problems with your glossy pages you can try some gesso.
