Frist off, crafty Ninjas...very awesome! "I should've been *&$^%#^ ^#$^#$^ 'Black Mamba'!"
Danniquee-I love the texture the mesh adds I like the dream-like tone to your page. For some reason, embossing powder popped into my head as a suggestion for sleeping sand. But that's just what I have on hand, so that's what I'd try to use. That copper powder phizzy has looks pretty awesome!
your.bestnightmare-The scanner I had access to at University was missing its usb cord. That is the most frustrating thing ever! Anyway, I hope your journaling is going along well, even though you have been thwarted from sharing thus far by the cruel universe :-)
phizzychick-I adore the cross-hatching on your door/portal (?) Your division of space always impresses me. I have to think so hard and it never turns out that lovely. And you haven't even finished yet?! There would be gaping voids pulling at your eye in mine! That tree stamp is adorable.
So, the secret compartment theme inspired me, but not for my own journal...yet. I decided to specialize some notebooks, etc for my friend for her birthday. (She will be headed back to grad school rather soon.) This might be a little off-topic, since it's not a journal.
Anyway, This is the "prettified" cover of a five subject notebook:
This is the WIP scan. I decided to give her a curio-notebook. Hopefully, if I don't run out of energy, I will put pockets on the dividers inside, and tuck inside little fun things to do while she is bored in class and supposed to be paying attention.
The finished Closed Curio
Some of the "cupboards" opened. It's difficult to see the details in some of them...

I'm not sure if she'll notice/will know this, but a lot of the curiosities are photopaper copies/scans of my favourite treasures. The feather and background microchip are the only real (nonpaper) items. The stamps are real stamps, and the card is a real card, etc.
