Hopefully you get your scanner sorted out soon...we wanna see! Cheesy

Not the best from my scanner, it's definitely more raised irl, but here's the page so far. Still a wip...

I put the glue & powder round the archway, as tiny dots in the black dots and created two diamonds around the two stars at the top. I think the light has caught the diamonds the best, but it's not come out that clear.

Heh, thanks! I used up some left over fabric from the hair of a Green Man I'm creating, it seemed appropriate. My first ever fabric triangles...why on earth didn't I think of that sooner?? Of course I still had to go round them in black, but Sharpie this time Tongue

Spread the triangle love! I'm sure it wasn't my idea, I've picked it up somewhere and just got obsessed with them! Cheesy

That's great!

I should also say that the trees were an awesome handcarved stamp that I received today from GougeAway Grin

Phizzy - Love! Now you're using my favorite colors.

Before I could get a heat gun I used an incandescent bulb to heat the embossing powders. It works to hold one sheet over the bulb. With the book you would have to hold the bulb over the paper. I've also used the heat from the outside of my toaster oven. And I've seen people use the heat from an iron. Hair dryers don't work because they blow.

I thought of something else today... I believe bronzing powders are actually metal. Pearl Ex is mica shiny colors. Usually sold in sets of 12, I believe. The colors are yellow, red, blue, silver, black, lots of colors. I believe Perfect Pearls are the same thing. Fewer colors in a set. I have Peal Ex. It sticks to clay. I brushed a bit of Mod Podge (glue) on paper and dusted it with Pearl Ex. Shimmery. Finely ground. Michaels sells both. JoAnn's sells Perfect Pearls. Its near the stamping supplies. sometimes the clay.

Pearl Ex - the pics on the website are flat and pale compared to Real Life

Perfect Pearls - again real life colors shimmer

Frist off, crafty Ninjas...very awesome! "I should've been *&$^%#^ ^#$^#$^ 'Black Mamba'!"

Danniquee-I love the texture the mesh adds I like the dream-like tone to your page. For some reason, embossing powder popped into my head as a suggestion for sleeping sand. But that's just what I have on hand, so that's what I'd try to use. That copper powder phizzy has looks pretty awesome!

your.bestnightmare-The scanner I had access to at University was missing its usb cord. That is the most frustrating thing ever! Anyway, I hope your journaling is going along well, even though you have been thwarted from sharing thus far by the cruel universe :-)

phizzychick-I adore the cross-hatching on your door/portal (?) Your division of space always impresses me. I have to think so hard and it never turns out that lovely. And you haven't even finished yet?! There would be gaping voids pulling at your eye in mine! That tree stamp is adorable.

So, the secret compartment theme inspired me, but not for my own journal...yet. I decided to specialize some notebooks, etc for my friend for her birthday. (She will be headed back to grad school rather soon.) This might be a little off-topic, since it's not a journal.

Anyway, This is the "prettified" cover of a five subject notebook:

This is the WIP scan. I decided to give her a curio-notebook. Hopefully, if I don't run out of energy, I will put pockets on the dividers inside, and tuck inside little fun things to do while she is bored in class and supposed to be paying attention.

The finished Closed Curio

Some of the "cupboards" opened. It's difficult to see the details in some of them...

More cupboards open

Contents of the last two cupboards

I'm not sure if she'll notice/will know this, but a lot of the curiosities are photopaper copies/scans of my favourite treasures. The feather and background microchip are the only real (nonpaper) items. The stamps are real stamps, and the card is a real card, etc.
