Man i feel the same way about my style...
I also feel like what i put in my altered book isn't what "style" is shown in the other work i do.
And i'm working on a childrens story for my art class i'm i'm stumped.
Stumped on the medium.
Stumed on the subject/story.
Stumped on the the whole concept of illustrating a childrens book
so i know how you feel!
 Huh
Phizzy i love your idea of using other peoples work/medium to inspire your own painting/altered art Cheesy

Thanks guys
I need to try and get back into the swing of it I think - when I was journalling regularly I felt really inspired and creative.

Phizzy - looking forward to your pages in different styles.
I reckon you have a definite style that a lot of people really like. How did you develop it? Has it always been the same? What do YOU think about your style? It would be interesting to hear if thats ok with you?

I have bought some of my card making stuff back to my house and so will do some hear in front of the tv.
And some journalling.

I really want a separate book or something for my house project - so Im still thinking on that one.

Smuckers - Maybe you experiment with different styles in your book - I think thats what I do with mine.
No advice on your story really - maybe go and look at a load of childrens books in a library or somewhere?

I can't say that I know Cheesy I think it was probably developed more at uni, although I did similar mixed media stuff at college too. I've just always liked messing with bits and mixed media. I get sick of it sometimes though too and want to branch out! I have mixed media paintings in my house that I've done that are nothing like my journaling style (at least I don't think so). I mean I like it, I just don't want to look at it 24/7 Cheesy

I've finally had some time to work on my journal again! Busy, Busy Halloween... and lots of other projects.

BTW, I really enjoyed everyone's fall/halloween pages!

So, I finally finished (maybe?) my Gnome Story pages. I put a concertina insert of the English version of the text, with garden gnome cover. I feel like it's a little plain, though, and maybe needs decoration (at least on the back that is blank white paper).

I also finished up my embroidery for the cover of my journal, and made the removable fabric cover today. I added straps with d-rings to help control its bulging belly. The theme is obviously Alice in Wonderland (and through the looking glass). I have a fondness for all things Alice (except the Disney animated version doesn't really do much for me).

I'm hoping to get more pages done soon (but having started Christmas present crafts...)

I love your cover! I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan too. I collect the old books, and new ones when I come across them done well or in a different language. Smiley

Since I also collect playing cards I also covert your playing card fabric! Cheesy

I really love your concertina gnome too. Where did you find your gnome image? He's adorable!

I still need to finish my one for this week...I have a long list of holiday makes too Cheesy
