Early 40's flared dress! (with link to pattern)

I do love the dress (especially since I visited the pattern drafting website - yikes! that's intimidating), but am also in awe of your hair!

do you think the pattern still works if you change the basic measurements? I love 1940's clothing, but am a plus size, and oddly proportioned (large bust, small waist) and it's difficult to find anything to fit! I think I'd be willing to go through the intimidation if I ended up with something that fit me so beautifully. Lovely job!!

Thanks! I didn't use the same measurements the instructions gave, so I'm pretty sure you can use your own to make it. As long as you change the 'working scale' measurement as well, it should turn out fine. When it comes down to it, it's just a lot of plotting dots and drawing lines and curves, so custom measurements should work! If you make one, I'd like to see the finished result!

this really is beautiful. I wish I could sew as well as you so I could attempt something like this.
This is my ideal 40's dream dress! And yay for re-using furs. I loooove fur, but I can't imagine buying new.

Wow that is really beautiful. And I'm so glad you recycle fur! I could never buy new fur, but at the same time if I see fur thats not being loved or used it makes me feel as if that animal died in vain and I must use its hide to give its death a meaning! I'm glad others do the same
